NATIONAL TELEVISION America's Got Talent Television - NBC Television / Paramount Pictures
A short time later he was contacted again by the same producer of AGT asking if he'd reconsider if he only had to do one or two parts of his act and he wouldn't have to be judged by the three celebrity has-beens. Again, after much deliberation, he accepted. As it turned out, it was an interesting experience. Read the details in Gery's article, "America's Got Talent - What it was really like." Steve Harvey's Big Time Challenge Television - Warner Brothers / Tribune Entertainment
This was a fun experience despite some difficulties at the set. These shows are quickly fired up, they make a quick buck, and are quickly extinguished. Anyway, how many other people can say they impressed Rev. Al Sharpton?
INDEPENDENT FILM Edenwood (Estimated release date July 2008) Independent film by Lion Belly Productions Directed by Jennifer Locke October 31, 2007 – Lion Belly Productions of Ann Arbor, Michigan has released the first trailer for their new production called “Edenwood.” The independent film is in the final stages of production and schedule for a spring 2008 release. “Edenwood” is a comedy that, for lack of a better description, puts the audience in mind of a parody blend of Brokeback Mountain and High School Musical. Lion Belly’s first film, “Morgan,” is a horror film that had its world premier on October 29 at Eastern Michigan University. The film’s director and producer, Jennifer Locke, received her master’s degree in fine arts from Wichita State University in 2001. Locke is now on the faculty at EMU in the College of Arts & Sciences. “It is really awesome that so many people are getting together to help me along with this little project and I am truly grateful,” said Locke. The director’s enthusiasm as a creative artist inspires a fun but professional atmosphere on the set. The cast and crew were made up of a dedicated and passionate group of students, professional actors, and technicians. In addition, Locke also employed one more unique cast member for the movie, if only for a brief part. Whip artist Gery L. Deer appears in this unlikely comedy playing the part of a western entertainer at a theme party that occurs in the story. Deer went on location in Michigan to shoot his segments early in October also appearing in other scenes as an extra. “Thanks to my friend Joe Saul, who lives in Ann Arbor and referred me to one of the cast members, I got to be part of something really fun,” said Deer. “This had to be one of the most enjoyable and professionally done projects I’ve ever worked on.” “Morgan,” will begin circulating through indie film festivals around the country with “Edenwood” following along next spring. The first teaser has been uploaded to YouTube and can be viewed here:
The Symposium of Justice - Novel Video Trailer Independent Video - GLD Enterprises & Productions / Rich Hoffman Productions 2003

FEATURE FILM The Rundown Film - Universal Studios 2003 (Click here to see the movie trailer.)
August 2002 - GLD Enterprises & Productions Whip Artistry Studio supplied whips, whip holsters, and technical consulting to the Universal Studios film "The Rundown." Here's the official story. GLD Enterprises & Productions Whip Artistry Studio received a call from the prop department of Helldorado Productions at Universal Studios in Los Angeles. They were looking for whips and related props for the production of an action film that had already started production. We were told that they were just looking for catalogs from various whip suppliers and retailers. Realizing that this was a good break for himself and GLD Enterprises & Productions, Gery contacted his friend whip maker Paul Nolan of Midwest Whips in St. Louis, Missouri. Gery and Paul came up with two simple designs for small, sample sized bullwhips of the type that prop master Doug Fox was interested in using. Paul quickly went to work and put together two different sample whips which Gery packaged, along with marketing materials about GLD Enterprises & Productions, and shipped them off to the studio. A few days later Gery got a call from Fox who said about Paul Nolan's whips, "These are the best whips I have ever seen produced in the U.S." He informed Gery that he wanted six, 6-foot, 12-plait, 10-inch handled bullwhips sent to his company as soon as possible to be used as training whips for the actors and stunt crew. He was also impressed with Gery's whip holster system design and requested 12 of them along with the first batch of whips. Fox felt that the contemporary and functional design added to the modern, gritty look of the film. Gery developed the holster system around 1990 after much trial and error and it is the only holster on the market that keeps the whip tightly coiled even when running. About a week later, Fox contacted them again about doing six more whips for use in the film. Paul quickly got six more whips together and Gery sent along a package of replacement crackers shortly afterwards. The film turned out well but fell short in the box office making just over $47 million. The whip work in the film is impressive and there's a great scene with a close-up of one of the GLD Enterprises whip holsters as a whip is released and rolled out. There are a number of rumors out in the whip world about who did the whip work for this film so let's lay it to rest. Paul Nolan and Terry Jacka made the whips for the film, some of which were provided through Western Stage Props. Gery L. Deer designed and made the whip holsters used in the movie and provided technical consulting on their use. The whip coach on the movie was Anthony DeLongis. There was good whip handling and flashy double-whip martial arts-type moves but they also did some really bad moves as well. At one point a barstool is thrown across a room and a whip is used, not to deflect the furniture, but to split it in half. It's a movie folks.
