Whip Artistry For Dance

Whip Artistry for DANCE is designed to give you a focus for your dance routine and create the exhilarating illusion of power and sensuality for your dancing. It will help you to relax your mind while strengthening and toning your body as well.

Distance Whip Coaching

We can set up a whip training schedule for you and work with you in a distance learning program. There is no substitute for one-on-one training with an instructor but this can help you resolve issues if proximity or finances make it impractical to come to the studio. Whip Making Class - 4-day Course  9AM-5PM Thursday through Sunday

Master whip crafter Paul Nolan visits our studio presenting a 4-day whip making course. Paul will take students from a hide to a finished 4-ft Australian style bullwhip. All tools are yours to keep and you even get a text book. Don't miss this one-of-a-kind class. It's not offered anywhere else in the world! Learn this fine and unique art from one of the best and youngest whip master crafters in the business. Pre-registration is required. Watch for scheduling information. Showmanship & The Whip Arts

 (Performing with your whip) While there are many skilled whip artists out there, many of them have no idea where to begin once they decide the want to become a performer. This course can help the whip artist develop a show that will be entertaining and informative. Even experienced entertainers who may have never used a whip in their show before find this class extremely helpful. This is typically a one-day course.

Side Course:  Target Assistant Seminar: Presented by Scout - who happens to be an expert in the field - this course is available to help targeting and show assistants learn the ropes of being the best they can be on stage. Most people don't realize that there's a real art and science to being a 'target girl' - as its sometimes known. Drawing from the skills and methods used by magician's assistants of the old Vaudeville days, this 2-hour seminar gives you the basics of being a show assistant.

Competition Whip Cracking (SAWA Standards)

Have you ever wanted to compete with your whip at one of the many regional whip cracking events held by western arts groups? This course offers some detailed instruction on the various contests and helps those interested in competing with their whip learn to adjust to such things as working against a time limit, stage fright, and adjusting to varying environments. We can even help you to learn the skills needed to take on the elusive "Zorro Candle Board" contest. These methods have proven themselves time after time as students of Gery L. Deer make use of his techniques to improve their competition whip hand. In fact, in 2002, Josh Frieden, a student in the studio for only about 8 months prior, entered a national whip speed and accuracy competition in Las Vegas and took home a 3rd place trophy. He had never competed before.

Whip Artistry Panel Discussion & Q/A Session

Our studio offers a session that is more of a roundtable or panel discussion and Q&A session than a workshop. We'll discuss a wide range of topics related to whip artistry and attempt to answer your questions as well. We'll be talking about whip work in film and theatre, sport and competition whip cracking, and clearing up some major misunderstandings about the whip and it's uses.
